HSSC update Thursday 17th May 2019

Dear Members,

War Memorial - Rededication Ceremony Wed 19 Jun at 1130. The programme for the rededication ceremony is taking shape and the service will be conducted by the Chaplain of the Fleet. There will be a RN contingent from the 1 Patrol Boat Squadron along with two P2000 vessels. The RM Band will be providing the music.
The service will start at 1130 followed by a reception in the Clubhouse on completion. Club members wishing to attend the service and reception are requested to put their names forward to the Club Secretary and a formal invitation will follow. Please provide names including guests by Friday 31 May 2019.

Website - Items for Sale including Boats - For members with items on the 'for sale' area of the website please carry out a review to confirm the items are still for sale - please reply to this email: hornetsailing@btconnect.com if your advert is still current. If no replies are received by end May the items for sale will be removed. We want to ensure we are not wasting people's time reading adverts for items that have since sold.

Closure of Haslar Road - Clayhall to Royal Hospital Haslar Gate from 3 Jun 19 - A reminder of the road closure and confirmation that the road will be closed to vehicles - bicycles and pedestrian will still have access. See download for details.

Family Fun Day Sunday 30th June - Our Annual Family Fun Day is fixed for Sunday 30th June. Lyndsey is planning the activities for the children, details are at the download. The event culminates at lunchtime with a family BBQ, tickets are available from the office. For the fun on the water, if you require a dinghy please put your bids to Lyndsey.

Pilates Classes every Thursday - There is a pilates class every Thursday in the Fabrosa Room from 1200 - 1300. There are some spare spaces available on a first come basis. For further details contact Lyndsey.

Boat Electric Cables - Berthholders are requested to return their electric cables to the Marina office. All cables must be returned by 1 Jun for PAT testing.

Your Health and Safety is Important to us! - Please report any H&S breaches or recommended improvements and please follow the Club's H&S rules and guidance. If in doubt ask. Latest H&S leaflet for boats lifted and laid up can be downloaded below.

For those carrying out work on their boats please ensure you clean up any arisings resulting from the work - Please keep the site clean.

Check Your Ladders Before Use - This week a member was injured falling off his ladder. This is a timely reminder to all to check the condition of the ladder before use. Please do not take risks using a ladder that is not fit for the task.

Use of JSASTC Toilets and Showers - Please note that these facilities are for the use of JSASTC staff and students and not for Club members. Please use the facilities in the Clubhouse that are available 24/7.

Car Parking in FB3 - Please note that use of the car park is for use on Hornet or JSASTC business only. We are seeing members park in Hornet/JSASTC and walk on foot into Gosport. Please do not abuse this parking privilege.

Reminder to Carry Membership ID - Please remember to carry your in-date Club ID cards at all times and to show to security staff on request. New 2019 stickers are available through the Office or behind the bar. If you require us to post to you please contact the Office.
